"Rooij": ILO delegation to visit Egypt next week.
The Minister of IIC Dr. Sahar Nasr met with the director of International Labour Organization (ILO) in Egypt Mr. Peter Van Rooij on the sidelines of the World Youth Forum (WYF) currently in session in Sharm el-Sheikh under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
The two sides tackled accelerating the implementation of the protocol signed between the Ministry and ILO in Geneva on youth employment in Egypt with the aim of providing one million job opportunities in the coming three years. It also aims at honing the technical skills at the employment generating sectors, encouraging small and medium projects, as well as providing jobs in the governorates most in need.
The minster referred to Egypt's efforts in improving the investment environment, contributing to the injection of new investments, provision of job opportunities and reduction of unemployment rates.
The two sides discussed the latest updates on the implementation of the program "Better Business Environment" in its pilot phase. The Minister confirmed MIIC's full support to implement this program, contributing in the improvement of the business environment in Egypt. Nasr also referred to the full coordination with the Ministry of Manpower to implement such program, expressing MIIC keenness on the encouragement of foreign investments particularly in areas most in need. In this context, Mr. Peter Van Rooij clarified that the program "Better Business Environment" is supporting around 30 companies in Egypt particularly in the sector of exporting ready-to-wear cloth until December 2017. ILO's vision regarding this program is to reinforce the clothing industry that supports millions of people by the provision of appropriate jobs, empowerment of women and enhancement of inclusive economic growth.
Rooij also praised the WYF and the interest of the Egyptian political leadership in giving priority to youth, involving them in decision-making process and providing an appropriate environment to engage in dialogues with youth worldwide about different issues on the international and regional arena.
He mentioned as well that ILO delegation would visit Egypt next week.
